Setting competitive delivery rates is crucial to attracting buyers and selling more.

Why are shipping costs so important?

This is one of the first pieces of information that buyers look at before deciding whether or not to order. Buyers tend to compare the cost of delivery with the price of the product. If the delivery costs are high compared to the price, they will be less inclined to buy.

More than 2 out of 3 orders abandoned by buyers are linked to excessively high delivery costs.

On Afrikrea, clients usually order from several designers at the same time. In the end, the accumulation of these shipping costs can become very significant and slow down the purchase.

Optimized shipping costs can turn an interested visitor into a customer.

Some tips for setting competitive delivery rates:

  • Know the price of your shipments

The easiest way to do this is to go to your post office or inquire with your carrier, and match their prices. It is strongly advised not to approximate prices.

For creators in France, the United Kingdom and the United States, we have made comparative studies of carriers. This allowed us to establish recommended delivery profiles by type of product. They will be accessible directly from your account, very soon. In the meantime, do not hesitate to contact us for more information.

  • Defining your delivery profile

It is possible to define delivery profiles based on product categories, weight and geographic area. Do not hesitate to use this feature, paying particular attention to the shipping costs for the French overseas departments (Antilles), and foreign countries. FYI, 1 in 2 orders are made internationally.

  • Delivery costs must not exceed more than 20% of the product price

It's not always easy to offer delivery, we know that. Nevertheless, it would be more reassuring to present customers with the lowest possible costs, compared to the price of the product. A creation whose shipping costs represent half the price of the product, always gives the buyer the impression of being "deceived" (even for large items). So always think about the psychological impact of the costs you present. In the opposite case, tiny or even free shipping costs can give the feeling of getting a good deal.

  • Offer shipping costs

We recommend including shipping costs in the price of your creations. Again, this is an important element in the purchasing decision. This represents 15 to 30% of additional sales on average. In addition, you will benefit from better visibility on the site because buyers can search for creations with the "free delivery" search filter.

  • Compare delivery costs to those of similar products

It is possible to compare your delivery costs with those of other sellers in your country, for similar products. You thus have a good point of reference for establishing your delivery costs.

1. In the "Activity" section of your account

2. Choose a product to compare. You will then see if your costs are more or less expensive than the average of products and bestsellers in the same category.
