Several steps are needed to tag your products on Facebook and Instagram.
We highly recommend you sit down with a laptop to proceed, this can take up to 30 minutes.
The steps are
Create a Facebook Business Account
Link Instagram and Facebook Business accounts
Create your Product catalogue
Verify your Anka shop DNS
Check your eligibility to Instagram Shopping
If eligible: become an Anka partner on Facebook
If not: access the general Anka catalogue on Instagram
The Facebook product tag option is available worldwide except for Nigeria. For Instagram it depends on your location. Check your availability here for Facebook and here for Instagram
Kindly note that Facebook often changes details in steps and wording, so the laptop screenshots below can differ from what you experience.
If you encounter any blocking issue please send us a mail with details and screenshots at [email protected] and we'll revert shortly.
Create a Facebook Business account
This step is easy and quick: https://business.facebook.com. Once you've created the account, you can add in your Facebook page.
Link your Instagram account and Facebook Business account
Another easy step: in your Instagram account, go to Settings > Account and select "Switch to Business Account", then make sure your pages are correctly linked.
Create the Product Catalog
Log in to your Facebook Business account, and go the Commerce section.
In the top left menu select Catalog Manager. Click on Create catalog, choose E-commerce > Online sales and hit next.
Catalog ownership is set to your Business account. If you own multiple accounts, choose the one linked to your Facebook and Instagram pages related to your shop.
In Catalog use, pick Run ads, then set the catalog name as you wish (ours is called AFK-Products). Click on Create then finish.
Your newly created catalog is visible on the Facebook Business homepage. Click on your catalog and then on the left menu go to Catalog > Data Sources
Select Data feed and hit next. If asked "Are you ready to upload your spreadsheet or file?" hit yes, then pick the option Use a URL. Paste the following:
https://anka-production-assets.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/exports/csv/myshopname-fb-catalog.csv
Leave the login fields blank. N.B: in the URL, the "myshopname-fb-catalog.csv" segment must be customized to your Anka shop name. For instance, for the website designer.anka .com, the URL is:
https://anka-production-assets.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/exports/csv/designer-fb-catalog.csv
If your shop name has a dash or a number (ex: ankara-designer-32.anka.com), they must be included.
Hit Next, then schedule daily updates. We recommend daily at 8AM. Hit next and finalize details, like the currency you wish to use for your products. You can skip the Fix columns part. Launch the upload and if all went well, your catalog is ready!
Verify your Anka shop DNS
Your products can now be tagged on Facebook. Two final steps are required for Instagram. In the top left menu, go to Business Settings.
In the left column menu, go to Brand Safety > Domains. Add your Anka shop URL as a new domain and refresh the page.
Copy the bold text string between the "" signs underlined in green in the screenshot. Here we need to copy g17y9r4zo14cfg30t6zvgyjz0llmxu
Keep this tab open, and in another one log in to your Anka account. Go to the Shop tab on the left menu and in the Advertise my products section, paste the text string.
Scroll down to the bottom and save. Go back to the Facebook tab and refresh, then hit Verify. Again if everything worked well, your DNS is now verified!
Check your eligibility to Instagram Shopping
Instagram Shopping isn’t available in all countries for various reasons. Meta regularly updates the list of available countries: check yours here..
If your country is in the list, you can use your own catalogue to tag products on Instagram. Go to step Become an Anka Partner.
Otherwise, you must request access to our General catalogue and use it to tag your products on Instagram. Our General Catalogue contains all Anka products, so you have to search within the list using brand name, product name or better: product token. Go to step Use Anka’s General catalogue
Become an Anka partner for Instagram
The final step before being able to use Instagram tagging is to send us your Business ID so we can share our domain access with you. If this step is not finalized you will not be able to tag your products on Instagram.
To find your business ID :
Go to Business settings.
Click Business info at the bottom in the left menu
Below Business Manager info, you'll see your ID number.
More details: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1181250022022158
Then send your ID by mail to [email protected] with your Anka shop name. That's it!
Tag your products
On Facebook, whenever you prepare a post or edit an existing one, the option to tag products from your catalog will appear.
On Instagram, the option can arrive a bit later, usually between 2-7 days after the DNS verification and partner set up.
If you have any issue or question during the process, please send us a mail explaining your issues with steps and screenshots at [email protected] and we'll revert shortly.
Use Anka’s General catalogue
We can grant access to your page to our entire Anka Catalogue. It will show on your Instagram page in the “View Shop” section and you’ll be able to tag your products in pictures and videos.
Send a request to [email protected] with the subject “request for Instagram catalogue” making sure to mention your @instagram account and your Anka shop name. Once we add you you’ll get a notification on the app to validate the access.
You’ll access our full Anka catalogue so ~150,000 products. To search and tag yours we recommend you use Product token, which is the 7 letter/number combination at the end of your product’s URLs on Anka.
For instance the product ‘Anka Gift Card’ the ’URL is https://www.afnka.com/fr/article/carte-cadeau-anka/682PU8Z
And the product token is 682PU8Z. To find your product URLs just go to your shopname.anka.com and click on any product to get it.
Type in the product token when searching the catalogue and you’re all set!
